India to require BIS registration for smartphone screen protectors from April 1, 2027

What happened
Screen protectors sold in India, imported or local, must meet the IS 19348:2025 standard from April 1, 2027. The government expects the rule to create about 60,000 direct and indirect jobs and a Rs 12,000 to Rs 16,000 crore manufacturing industry.
