The Open Notebook 2026 fellowship for early-career science journalists pays $6,600

What happened

The paid, part-time fellowship runs 12 months and is fully remote, with fellows writing four articles alongside an experienced mentor. Applications close October 31, 2026, and applicants outside the US can apply.

Why it may matter

• This is time-bound — there is an application or deadline involved, so check the dates before they pass.
• Evidence rather than policy — useful for understanding a trend.
• Useful if you are trying to find an internship or get a job.
• Affects students in the US.
