KNEC to secure all 2026 exam containers with smart padlocks

What happened

The Kenya National Examinations Council will monitor every exam container remotely using smart padlocks, CEO Dr David Njegere says. The technology was used in 250 centres last year.

Why it may matter

• Evidence rather than policy — useful for understanding a trend.
• Useful if you are trying to build a startup.
• Affects students in Kenya.
