Funza Lushaka teaching bursary opens for 2027, new applicants have until 31 January 2027

What happened

South Africa's Department of Basic Education is funding initial teacher education at public institutions. New applicants must apply by 31 January 2027, returning bursars by 30 November 2026.

Why it may matter

• This is time-bound — there is an application or deadline involved, so check the dates before they pass.
• Approved, so it is now going ahead rather than being proposed.
• Useful if you are trying to explore opportunities.
