UK defence contractors pledge 40,000 apprenticeships, placements and jobs a year

What happened

Firms including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and Airbus have signed pledges to offer 40,000 opportunities a year to 18- to 24-year-olds by 2030, rising to 50,000 by 2035. Unsuccessful applicants will be signposted to roles elsewhere in the supply chain.
